Col. Edward Wright PayMaster U.S.A all funds in his possession pertaining to this Bureau. Brig Gen & Asst. Comd. Office Assistant Commissioner Bureau of Refugees. Freedmen and Abandoned Lands Montgomery Ala. Oct. 10th, 1865 Special Order No. 23} Acting Asst. Surgeon G. Miller U.S.A. having reported at this office in compliance with orders from Maj. Gen. O.O. Howard Commissioner of this Bureau, will report to Capt A.C. Haptonstall Asst. Supt of Freedmen at Demopolis, Ala for assignment to duty in charge of Linden Colony near Demopolis. The Q.M. Dept will furnish transportation II Capt I.N.[[Skulton?]] 58 Ills Vols in charge of Colony on the [[?]] Plantation is hereby ordered to cut such wood on that place as he may think necessary 27 Office Assistant Commissioner Bureau of Refugees.
