Circular Letter.

In accordance with instructions received from the Commissioner at Washington this Bureau will assume the duty of collecting claims of colored soldiers for back pay, bounty, pensions &c.  Such claims will be prosecuted free of cost to the claimant except for Revenue Stamps and Notarial fees.
The officers of the Bureau in this State will give notice that they will take such claims for collection, and will prepare the necessary papers where application is made forwarding them to this office.  The necessary blanks will be furnished from this office as soon as prepared.
Enclosed with this Circular are instructions for the preparation of claims.  The statements called for therein should be forwarded to this office.

Capt W.H.H. Peck, Veteran Reserve Corps, having in accordance with orders from Maj Gen O.O. Howard, Comsr B.R.F.  & A.L. reported at this office, will proceed to Tuscaloosa, Ala and report to Capt J.W. Cogswell, Asst Supt at that place.
Upon the receipt of orders for the muster out of the regiment to which Capt Cogswell belongs, Capt Peck will assume the duty of Asst Supt, relieving Capt J.W. Cogswell.
