the two races manifest towards each other a feeling of respect, and a spirit of tolerance & forbearance truly commendable. Every effort is made by the Bureau agents here, to encourage this feeling and spirit.

10- Prospects of the Freedmen.
Nothing has transpired since the last Report from this Office, calculated to materially affect the prospects of the freedmen. Great pains have been taken, both in private conversation with them at the Office, and by public lectures in the Country, to encourage them in every respect; and the majority of them deserve much credit for the advancement which they have already made.
