The School House at Marion is approaching completion, arrangements are being entered into for building a high School House in Selma which meets the hearty encouragement of the Citizens.
The Temperance Society organized in Selma, and Marion, are doing a good work and increasing in membership.
Registration in Sub Dist. has progressed very satisfactorily. The colored people are generally informed upon the subject and are promptly Registering. - [[No?]] personal inspection of the Boards have been made by the Sub. Asst. Commr. it being quite impracticable, and he believing from reports of the Boards and from reliable sources who had visited the different Boards that all was going well.
Destitution has very much decreased and it is recommended that the issues of Rations to any but those in extreme want, and under the appropriations by Act of Congress be discontinued after the month of August.
