I have one select colored school at this place with 42 scholars, taught by a colored woman, supported by subscription of the pupils. We have a flourishing association, known as the "Lincoln Temperence lodge," of 172 members at present; the association is fast growing in number and popularity. I have been building in view to enlargen the Refugees and Freedmen's Hospital, in which I provide for 4 Refugees (1 man and 3 women) and sixty Freedmen (12 men, 28 women, 9 boys and 11 girls). I have issued during the month of July 10 Barrels of Pork, 22 Barrels of Flour and 432 Sacks of Corn, the latter is a portion from the donation of the N. Y. Famine Rel'f association, have received from said Company (pr. Lieut. Shorkley) 336 Sacks of Corn - During the past month I have in person traveled through eight Counties looking after the interest of the colored people.
