Sub Dist of Talladega
Bureau RF and AL
Talladega Ala Oct 31st 68

Col. Edwin Beecher
Asst Commissioner
Montgomery Ala

Col
In compliance with Circular No 11. C.S. & have the honor to report the affairs of the Bureau RF and AL as follows
The Freedmen are all with a very few exceptions at work trying to make a living; those who have been at work in the country in plantations seems to get along much better than those that live in the towns.
The cotton crop will not turn out as well as I mentioned in my last Report, owing to the cotton worm, which has injured the crop very much: from my observation I do not think that the corn crop is more than two third of the usual crops on an average throughout this Sub District, although in some places good crops have been raised, this will cause bread stuffs to be high the comming winter.
