I have the honor to transmit herewith my "Weekly Letter":
About one week ago, a Freedman came to this Office—early in the morning—and asked me to give him a pass to go down to Pike County and give assistance to his fellow servants, who were being treated very cruelly and unjustly by the white citizens. He said all he wanted was, to get a few arms, and provision, for himself and two or three others to proceed to said County for the purpose of giving aid to their friends and relatives there.
