At Greenville in Butler County Mr. Solomon Betten a gentleman well recommended in every respect as suited for the position has consented to accept the agency at that depot and will also take charge of the issue of rations in that county if desired -  

Since my last report I have received letters from Probate Judges and county agents in many counties making earnest appeals for an increase of the supply of rations furnished their respective Counties. The greatest demand is for bread. The supply of meal sent to the depot at Selma was inadequate to meet the registration for the sub depots and much of the bread stuffs sent out during the past month was so badly damaged as to be wholly unfit for use as food.
