The Lesbian Art Project was developed to explore and create lesbian culture and sensibility. A new program this Fall, the Lesbian Art Project is based on a seasonal model which duplicates a feminine nature cycle. Since there has been little work about lesbian artists and writers, the field promises many prospects for real discovery in research on historical and contemporary lesbian creators.
Healing Arts is a broad project designed to stimulate psychological depth. As such, it crosses categories and works along with all creative arts to focus on the healing process and its relation to creativity and art making. Dance, both Western and Eastern, is part of Healing Arts.
Ariadne: A Social Art Network is a project emphasizing performance art and offering the opportunity to gain practical experience in the development of multi-media work. Women learn how to use art to influence social change. Violence against women in our society is the special concern of Ariadne.
Women of all ages, cultures and nationalities are members of the Feminist Studio Workshop Although it is a 2-year program, some women elect to stay 3 or 4 years. The Workshop has also formed affiliations with several degree granting institutions so that students may take degree programs concurrently with their work in the Workshop. Degree programs are available with Antioch University West, Goddard College, and International College. Under a special scholarship program called "New Moves," older women and disadvantaged women are eligible to receive funds.
