Feminist Studio Workshop

We are pleased to announce that the Feminist Studio Workshop (FSW) will be opening its doors for more women to join us on January 3, 1980. Applications for this comprehensive educational program are doe by December 7, 1979. On Saturday, December 1, the FSW core faculty and many current students and alumnae will be on hand at the Open House to answer questions about the program. This year many individual parts of the FSW have received funding, making possible an even richer program. We are excited to share them with you:

The Women's Graphic Center offers classes, workshops, and sessions with visiting artists. The program is especially designed to enable women to affect our environment through the expression of our individual experience as women in graphic form. Offering include offset printing, letterpress, silkscreen, photography, and design. Sheila de Bretteville is the mentor to women enrolled in the full time program.

The Visual Arts Program is for the first time offered as a formal course of study. Mary Jones and Deanne Belinoff, members of the women's art group, Double X, are teaching intensive classes in drawing and painting.

The Women Writer's Program features instruction by Eloise Klein Healy, Alice Bloch and Nan Hunt. Performance Art this winter will be taught by Rachel Rosenthal, performance artist and creator of Instant Theatre. Healing Artmaking, led by Betty Gordon, continues to strengthen the connection of the artist to her inner self. And Video, with Jerri Allyn and the L.A. Women's Video Center moves into videotape production.

At the heart of the FSW is the Core Program in which women working in all media meet together for 2 days a week to discuss feminist issues and artmaking. Here we actively build our community.

We are accepting applications for the January-June session now. Tuition is $1,000. The application fee is $20.00. Please call us by November 25 if you are interested in the New Moves scholarship program.

We hope to see you at the Open House on December 1, at noon. Please feel free to call us at 221-6161 if you have questions.
