OPEN SOME DOORS AT THE FEMINIST STUDIO WORKSHOP

For the past six years, women from all over the world have come to the Feminist Studio Workshop at the Woman's Building to open some doors in their lives. This unique educational program designed by, for, and about women will again open its doors on October 4, 1979. Applications must be submitted by August 30 to the Woman's Building, 1727 North Spring Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012.

The Feminist Studio Workshop (FSW) was founded in 1973 by artist Judy Chicago, designer Sheila de Bretteville and art historian Arlene Raven as an alternative to traditional art schools. It was the first independent, feminist educational institution in the world. What began as a notion of female sensibility in art has grown into a movement of feminist art that has already taken an acknowledged place in art history. The FSW stands at the forefront of this movement.

In the FSW, women tap their personal experiences as the raw material for making art. Students learn practical skills in visual arts, writing, graphics, design, community organizing, video, and performance. Together they make public a new women's culture.

Degree programs and some scholarships are available. For more information call 221-6161.
