Thank you very much for the use of 100 folding chairs the weekend of March 20, 1981. (P.L.: thank you very much for your assistance in helping to make the WCAS a success. the weekend of March 20, 1981);
There were over three hundred people per day at the Conference on Women's Culture in American Society 1880-1980 at the Woman's Building, many of whom had not heard of or been to the Building before. Response to the Conference has been very favorable and appreciative. The weekend introduced our organization to a new audience, provided a public platform for work, research and ideas of scholars and community leaders, and established a means of contact between individuals. We have had several requests for copies of papers delivered at the conference as well as for the addresses of participants and organizations represented. Information generated by the conference continues to reach more and more people: KPFK has played selected speeches over the air in recent weeks; we have just been requested to submit selected articles as well as a full manuscript for publication; and we have received additional funding from the California Council for the Humanities in Public policy to support both a radio documentary and manuscript preparation.

The Conference on Women's Culture in American Society has been one more step towards the Woman's Building goal of bringing people together to examine issues and share ideas and experiences.
