Dear Capt.Mose:

The Macmillan Company have not been able to get the reviewer for your diary but have arranged to do so next Monday, Feb.25th, and I shall let them have the diary for a few hours. Shall let you know the outcome by first mail.

We are having the end of a near blizzard today. About a foot of moist snow fell during the night and now it is raining and slushy almost to the shoetops. The autos are sliding about even with chains on. It is not a good day for the planning of a trip outofdoors, but I am at it just the same. I feel we must make our decision about the boat as soon as possible.

Since writing you last I have been looking about at different shipyards for used cabin cruises add can about what we want but they are rather high priced. I have asked about sending such boats up and last Sunday I had a good friendly with a Mr. Murray who is in charge of the City Island yard where Sir Thomas Lipton kept his Shamrocks and they are now building the Miss Columbia a motor boat for the international race next summer. Mr. Murray came to my home and we talked the trip over, and he strongly advises me to lease, buy or have a boat built in N.F. as the hazard and time necessary to send a boat up is against it. He says you men know they conditions and can letter build boats to meet them. Mr. Williams strongly advises the same thing and considering everything I havecame to feel that it will be best.

Mr. Williams brought George C. Jerrett down with him last fall and wrote him about boats for our purpose. I met Mr. Herrett of Brigus on his way to Indian Narbor last summer and am inclined to feel that this is his son. He said that a boat suitable for our purpose 35 feet long a good heavy duty engine, sails, mooring and all complete & delivered at Battle Harbor or anywhere along the coast would be about $700. He says his father would be glad to take it up on one of his schooners as they go op light in the spring. He mentioned Pomroy Brothers & Mr. Robert Bartlett as good reliable builders at Brigus and said his father could supervise the work. I tell you this for your general information. I should like you to help me decide and supervise whatever we decide to do as I feel you know our needs and are interested in us. We met your brother Robert & I sent him dome prints of himself & neighbors.

I have a choice as I understand it of three things:-
I. Rent a suitable boat.
II. Buy a used boat and change her to suit our needs.
III.Have a new one built to our specifications.

I. Considering rental say for about amonth from July 10th what would be the cost? I presume we would not have the comfort we could have on our own boat. Do you know of a suitable one and someone to run it?

II.& In buying I feel that we need about approximately 35 'long x 9 ft. beam x 3 ft. draft with a cabin with 6 foot head room and four bunks and either port holes or better small winds for light, ventilation & to look out of in bad weather. We shall do considerable cooking on board and will want toom for a 2 or 3 burner gasoline or alcohol stove. I presume the cabin would have to be built as you might not dins one to suit us. It would have to
