Dear Dr. Waugh:

Greetings from Alaska.

I arrived here Nov 16th, having left the Northland with permission of Surgeon General and made trip to Seattle on Victoria. I was mighty glad indeed to get here for it was quite a responsibility for Mrs. McA.

So far (I have finished 4 weeks here) I find the work very very interesting and very satisfactory. I have never been busier in my young life time but can honestly say I enjoy every minute of it. The work is of a most varied kind covering all the various branches of medical and surgery and needless to say I feel quite certain that several years here will be of inestimable value to me in later life. I have had four major surgical operations and seven tonsils to date and have a hysterectomy scheduled for this coming Tuesday. So, thus far, I can frankly say that the work has far exceded [[exceeded]] my best expectations and I see no reason why it should not continue.
