Dear Doris

We are having nice weather sunny days & not so cold. it seems good to have snow stay off. we get lots of pretty sunsets which illuminate the western horizon & a little new moon.

Thanksgiving day passed off without a hitch. we had plenty to eat but it was a lone some day. the day before the holiday I had a caller Mr Avery Yates came & brought me a basket of fruit apples, oranges, a can of cranberry sauce & a can of vegetable soup. he said he called on Maude at the hospital. she had grown very fleshy since seeing last & he was afraid it wasn't good for her. she was sorry they sold the house on Grove St. as now it would have brought a much larger price. he said she seemed worrying over her money matters. it was going too fast. she used to spend it on those grand children. guess she would throw it away on them no matter what any one would say to the contrary . I told him Bertha Upham had been a staunch friend to Maude always. I am looking for Doris to come out this week end as she said she might in her last letter & hope it continues to be pleasant so she can dry her clothes. the radio says freezing cold weather is coming from Canada.
