Stoughton July 14th 1946

Dear Doris
So far July has been a dry month vegetation seems to be drying up we had a good big moon last night I noticed it as I went up stairs to bed after I took my bath. today is a very nice day she slept late as she wasn't going to church. she has just listened in to a sermon over the radio which seemed better than any that Mrs. Bradner preaches. so she its all right. she even sung the songs & answered the responses. we didn't make up any fire in the store but shall warm up our corn chowder on the little electric stove. I have washed out my few clothes & they hang out on the line in the sun out back of the house. I can see things are drying up for want of rain even my lawn which needs mowing. so far it has been impossible to get a boy to move it. I payed the Silver boy two dollars which I felt was too much.
Our down stairs rooms seems cool without the fire but up in the front chamber the sun & hot air come in the window & it seems just right. I am sitting up to write my letter. That man who keeps the little store down below us is French & an awful talker, he is lame & wears braces on his legs like RF Roosevelt he has had Infantile Peralysis. they say they keep lots of things you cant get
