[15 Dec. 1928]

Dear Doris.

Egbert mailed your presents with this for the other Beckes to Stoughton as I was afraid they would not reach you before you left. They wrote me you were coming up for Xmas. The castile soap is for Dot though it is'nt [[isn't]] labeled for her. I hope you'll find the rubber apron useful. It will keep you dry anyway. Tell Sidney I'm so sorry but all those bird pictures must have been

burned up with other things that E. gathered up & carted off & burned. He took out a lot of things I had set aside to keep and I did'nt [[didn't]] notice what he was taking or I thought he understood which were which but he did'nt [[didn't]] and as a consequence various things I wanted have turned up missing. I'll see if I can't find some colored bird studies in some shop to send him. but those were especially good. I had intended to send them all-four of them this Xmas
