may feel assured that the attention of the Bureau has been called to this important subject, & that justice to the disloyal whites will not be overstrained so as to work in-justice to the loyal colored people, & to their friends at the North who have raised for them large sums of money.

The present animus of the men who have been so laboriously striving to destroy our Government & nation, towards their former slaves, is certainly not such as to invite much sacrifice of the freedman's rights on their behalf.

I should have said that we shall not probably care to extend our school system at Richmond much if any beyond the one school at Chimborazo hospital. There are plenty who are eager to take care of Richmond.
