To Whom it May Concern

This certifies that I have visited the colored schools (both Sabbath and day) instituted in this city of Lynchburg, some weeks since, and thus far mainly conducted by privates Geo. L. P. Bancroft, Co. F. and Alvin Varner, Co. E. 16th Pa. Cavalry. I have notes their success in classification, in discipline and in imparting instruction, and am happy to recommend both then and their work.
