Mr. John B. Bonnell, of Fall River Mass. has been in my employ and has labored under my direction in the Department of Freedmen's affairs in N.C. for nearly two years.  I have even found him just what he appears to be, an honest, faithful, true man.  No confidence, reposed in him will be misplaced.  To the best of his ability he will discharge us he ever has done.  All trusts confided to him  His influence upon the people with whom he has come in contact has been particularly good, he has my best
