Dear Sir,
I herewith introduce to you Mr J.S. Banfield, since two & a half years a faithful & valued Teacher under this Society; first is a Regt of Col. Wild's Brigade, and since as head of our "Jacobs school" in Alexandria, Va.

We are desirous of returning a corps of Teachers at once to Norfolk; and therefore send this gentleman to you at Richmond that he may receive instructions from you, or your Suptdt of schools, as to how he shall proceed there in relation to school rooms, & dwelling places for the Teachers.
