Rev. R. M. Manley.
Richmond, Va.

Dear Sir,
Yours, of the 18th inst. addressed to Rev. W. Hawkins, is at hand. We will answer you, in respect to quilts & pillows, within a few days. Or did you intend to convey the idea that, the fresh arrival you mention "of books & blankets", covers your previous request?

Inclosed, please find two checks on the Metropolitan Bank, of this city and for your own use, as per order in your letter, of one hundred dollars. The offer of eighty dollars, sent to you to get cashed & pay over to Mrs. Jennings, for one month's salary, from the 16th inst. thirty five ($35.) dollars, & to her daughter, Miss Jennings, salary from the 16th inst. twenty five ($25.) dollars, they board themselves. You are requested to pay Miss S.C. [[Ranstiar?]], teacher, twenty dollars ($20.) salary from the 11th inst.

Poor Langley! Sorry you all have but one sentiment respecting him. He must be recalled. Another, Mr. Whiting, is to take his place. We hope you will find in Mr. W. all you deem desirble for the post.

Pleased to know things are improving in Richmond. Our mutual friend Mr Hawkins is by this time in Richmond.

Yours truly
James J. Woolsey
