Dear Sir
I have just recd. another letter from Mr. D.T. Bachelor Lawrenceville, who complains most bitterly of his treatment there. What's to be done? He says, the citizens there conspire in every possible way to embarrass him, while he has little or no sympathy from the officers of the Bureau. The people charge him most exbitant prices for everything show him no favors whatever.- and that now they have ordered him out of the house he is using for a school room - he says the former proprietors have leased the building, and they tell him to start. He states, he has not received a favor from the Bureau has bought all his wood - made all his repairs, and has an uphill business of it. Says the colored people are in a worse state of bondage than before the war.- are compelled to work for starvation prices or go to jail. He says he has 60 scholars and might have 100 if - to use his language - he was allowed to. He says the colored people are docil - want to go to school, and those who
