Rev. R. M. Manly.

Dear Sir,
At a regular meeting of the Committee on Teachers etc. held this day, you were unanimously appointed to superintend the removal & refitting of the Winder building; one section of which has been moved upon its desired location.

C. Thurston Chase, Esq. who has been in charge, is now ill, & may not for some time be able to return to Richmond. But even should he soon be in your city, his official duties will hardly afford him leisure to attend properly to our matters. Should you be favored with his presence, you can advise with him, as circumstances shall seem to dictate.

But we wish you kindly to consent to take charge, not only of the removal, but also, of putting the building in a condition to be occupied, for the accommodation of our schools.

Allow us, therefore, to repose confidence in you, with the assurance that, the work will be done in the best & most economical manner, possible.

I need not assure you that, you shall be amply rewarded for all your devotion to the labor here committed to your hands.
