fought against the government once, and would do so again if they had a chance, would fight the Yankees here if there was an opportunity!
We are of course anxious to finish our term of school, but do not like to run any risks. We have already written to Gen. Brown, but cannot you intercede for us, that we shall be protected so long as we wish to remain here? We sincerely earnestly believe that something should be done for the interests of the freedmen in this community.
We know that a few of the respectable citizens say they are in favor of educating the freedmen, but the majority are continually saying and doing things very far from friendly. 
We are anxiously waiting to hear that we are not entirely alone.
