or twelve of those buildings which were used as hospitals by the Rebel Government, at Gordonsville. What better use is it possible to apply them to than the schoolhouses for the colored people? Government might furnish transportation to the requisite number of men to take the buildings down, to & from their homes, & also pay the freight on the lumber, out of his appropriation; & the colored people wld put up those buildings at their own expense. This w'ld do much towards supplying the deficiency existing at Warrenton, & at many other places. I have made an application to the Bureau for that purpose. Will you also make an earnest appeal to Gen. Howard?
Very truly yours
