Dear Sir,- 
Gen. Howard directs me to say that your educational Report, which should be made promptly each month, as [[underline]]specially[[/underline]] desired at this time.
Will you please gather all the [[underline]]general information[[/underline]] as to education during the summer vacation; also the prevailing sentiment as to Schools among the Freedmen, together with the statistics (as few Blanks sent you) to November 1st, and forward the same as soon as possible.
It is indispensable to the completeness of the Commissioners' Annual Report to Congress that all the data be here by the 10th November.
