have a good many (at least 50) who have learned to read since our schools were opened. I have organized teachers with 94 members in one and 36 in the other.

From what I know of the desire for school in this co. I have no doubt 1000 scholars could be gathered at once if we had the houses & teachers. The Fs would give their work — of many they have — now to build school houses, if we had or could get the ground on which to build.

There are[[strikethrough]] three [[/strikethrough]] four points in this vicinity (within ten miles) where we ought to have schools and with "ready money" land could be bought. One at the C.H. a 2d at Marboro, & 3d near Amelia Springs or Tetonville. 4th near
