May, 30. Iguala, Guerrero. 
We continued today from Xalitla and Iguala a distance of a trifle over 30 miles. 
Road today was a fairly good wagon road nearly all the way. It ascended gradually but led through Arid Tropical country all the way. We finally descended a steep hill into the valley in which Iguala is situated. 

Veg. There were no striking changes today. The latter part of the way there were large, open grassy areas. 

Orthogeomys  A number of diggings were seen along the road, a couple of miles south of Totolapa, a small town that we passed about 10 a.m. or about 4 1/2 hours south of Iguala. They live in the soil among the [?] on steep  slopes where the ground is softer than where more level.

"Palo del Brasil" of Zacacoyuca 2 1/2 hours south of Iguala a pile was seen which had been out to bring out to the R.R.
Ipomea tree, two species were couruon along the road, one with velvety leaves and the other with smooth leaves and [?] branches. 
Granaries "tropes" along the road from Chilpancingo to Iguala the people at ranches and in the towns build corn granaries usually in one corner of the corral or near the houses. They are usually 6-10 feet square
