Dear Brother- I have not deemed it best to make a change in the school at Winchester since I have had the first intimations of the inefficiency of Mr. Young inasmuch as I have expected that the summer vacation would soon [[strikethrough]] ha [[/strikethrough]] take place. I thought that what had been tolerated at the hands of the Presbyterians could run on for two or three mos: better than to have a change for so short a period. The Eastern Conferences at their recent sessions heartily endorsed our work & I trust our funds will come in so as to enable us to [[strikethrough]] give [[/strikethrough]] send teachers to the more important points in your Dist: & where most needed by the freedmen.

Kind Regards
Yours Truly
J.M. Walden
