Bureau R.F. & A.L.
Head Qrs. 11th Sub. Dist. Va.
Farmville. Va. Feb 6th 1868
Repsectfully returned to Bvt Brig Gen'l O. Brown. Asst. Com. Va. with the information that when the within proposed enterprise was first contemplated it was deemed advisable to consolidate the Church and school interest, so far as Farmville was concerned. I have since found that this plan was not feasible. In the meantime, however, the Methodist Church people have raised by subscription over $400.00 which they have in Bank, and they are confident of being able to raise $100.00 more, and I believe that a little assistance from the Bureau, if it can be rendered consistent with existing rules, would be productive of great good to these people. say to the extent of $250.00. In the matter of the school house although the Bureau building now occupied by the school is tolerably well adapted to the purposes, yet it is poorly constructed and not entirely safe. The teachers here are willing to transfer their services and schools to the new arrangement, which from present indications can be carried out at an expense to the Bureau not to exceed $500.00
