Our house is considered as completed. Our school will open on Sunday 5th inst. We made a partial reorganization last Sunday. 29th Dec and had preaching. a crowd was present and I elicited facts as follows: The Sunday & Night School will comprise about Fifty Students, some of whom are heads of families, the average attendance each night will be about thirty. The Sunday School will include the Night Students, and all members of their families who wish to learn. The number represented independent of Night School will aggregate One hundred. They wish a school every day and ought to have it. The daily attendance will probably be about Sixty. They insist upon my teaching the day School, but they are not able to pay much if anything, for some families have three others four and one reported five to go to day School. I am disposed to teach the day school if I can be a participant of appropriations for that purpose. Judge Underwood informed me in August that Rev Mr Murphy had charge of Nottoway & Amelia Schools, & appropriations: but my letters of Sept 15th, Oct 15th & Dec 1st have not been replied to but I am informed that he has a School in Amelia.

Can you reach him with our case?
Respectfully,
J. W. Murdock
