Charlottesville, May 10, 1868.
Mr. Manly:-
Superintendent of schools:-

I conversation with Miss Carkin during our stay in Richmond, I perceived you spoke of your intention of visiting Charlottesville early in the season.

We are very desirous to have you attend an educational meeting to be holden on Wednesday night, the 20th inst. It is to be called expressly for the purpose of considering the subject of purchasing land on which to erect a new school building—and we think you could present the matter in a manner [[strikethrough]] so [[/strikethrough]] clear and forcible enough [[strikethrough]] as [[/strikethrough]] to excite such a degree of enthusiasm as shall unloose the purse strings immediately.
