Sir,

You judged rightly that the letter, which you have sent so full a reply, was from myself.  I think I remember adding a question on the margin of my sheet, and putting my name there;  a foolish habit of mine, which has grown out of the use of these small sheets.  I must beg you to excuse the omission if I really did not - sign my letter.
