Hillery Hill and other Freedmen of Sumner County complain that you have issued an order for the summary ejectment of one hundred and sixty Freedmen from the Fairview plantation, - the estate of the late Isaac Franklin, - and that among the number to be thus thrown out are several helpless aged people and many young children who were born on the plantation, and have remained there during the war.
You will report to these Hd Qr's at your earliest convenience. your action in the case, your reasons for it, and the provisions made for the aged and helpless.
