The Assistant Commissioner directs that you report as soon as practicable the number and class of persons to whom clothing (including shoes) has been issued in your sub Dist for the month ending January 31" 1868 also a like report for February embracing in addition to the above the number of rations purchased from the special relief fund, the number issued and the number of persons, white or black relieved therewith

I am directed by the Assistant Commissioner to acknowledge the receipt of your report of account sales of furniture and of rations purchased therewith and issued to the destitute of Memphis. As authorized in endorsement from this office of January 27th 1868 and to say that the same is entirely approved and that you will not take up the supplies so purchased and account for them as suggested by you nor make other report, than has been directed from this office.

Samuel Sayers has purchased a lot at Petersburg, Williamson County. for a School House The Deed is good but the lot is not paid for I have made it a rule not to expend any money on buildings, till the Land is altogether paid for. Now understanding from you that you have collected some money in the north for School purposes. I think is more worthy case can present itself than this of Samuel Sayers. I promised to aid him to the extent of #200.00 if he could raise #150.00. If you can supply the defficiency the work can be commenced immediately.
