Dept Cumb'd Louisville Ky. General I have the honor to inform the Major General Commanding the Department that I need the services of Bvt Maj C H Fredrick 1st. Lt. 45th Inft. who has been ordered by Maj Genl O O Howard to report to me for duty, but who has been authorized to delay reporting till the completion of the courtmartial duty, on which he is now engaged. Maj Frederick tells me that the court will not finish the business before it, and that will come before it for a long time - perhaps two months; he informs me also that there are six members besides himself. I would therefore thank Maj General Howard if he would relieve Maj Frederick from duty on the courtmartial in order that he may report to me, as the loss of several Officers and agents from the Bureau recently, increases the necessity of having Maj Frederick on duty as soon as possible 649 & 650 I am General Very Respectfully Your Obt Servt W.
