Sir:
Yours of the 3d inst. has been received. In reply I have to inform you that the Bureau will continue to give aid to freedmen's schools till July 16th, unless orders to the contrary be issued from the powers at Washington. Beyond that day no promise can be given, as the Bureau itself will cease to exist unless Congress shall in the meantime authorize its continuance.
