Waters Hon. W.
Watertown, Nelson County, Tenn

Dear Sir:
Yours of the 12th inst. has been received. In reply
I have to say that I have no knowledge of any authority being given to any Agent of the Bureau to promise a schoolhouse at Watertown. At present I cannot promise any other aid than to pay a reasonable rent for a schoolhouse if the colored people will establish a school and maintain it
The Bureau will cease to exist on the 16th of July next unless a law should be passed to continue it. Should such a law be enacted I may be able to assist in building a schoolhouse.
Very Respectfully
Your obedient servant
