Bvt. Maj. Genl Swayne having applied to me to relieve you from duty and order you to report to him, there being no officers of his command at this Post to act, as Adjutant, you will be relieved temporarily from duty at this Office, and will report t Genl Swayne for instructions.

Please deliver to Bvt. Lt Col Gelray all records and unfinished business.  He will act as A.A. Genl till further orders.

To carry out the instructions of the Commissioner, forbidding the payment of teachers by rental of the buildings; you will without delay notify all teachers so paid that they will have to look to other sources for their payment.  You will recommend such of them as may be worthy to the Benevolent Associations who will probably pay them.

Colonel:
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of October of the 1868 and although marked personal.  I am requested by Lieut Bower to answer it officially, as it contains official matters.

If you will send to this office a statement of the journeys you have made on official business, and your reasons therefor.  The matter will be submitted to the Assistant Commissioner, and if approved, orders will be issued which will you enable you to draw mileage.

I enclose the Blanks requested.  The Disbursing Officer, however, is the proper party to apply to for such papers.  Enclosed please find Circular No. 15 - C.S.from this Office, which contains the necessary information of travelling in your Sub District.
