For Brig Genl O Brown
Asst. Commissioners

General: I purchased at my own expense a lot of ground, containing nearly four acres, on which I have built a meeting and School House for the freed people with a building called the Parsonage for the Pastor who may be called to take charge of the church, and so arranged that it may be used as a home for the School teachers. The whole at a cost (including furniture) of about three thousand dollars. Of this amount I received from Bureau funds, the Sum of three hundred dollars from my personal friends in Philadelphia, and those of the teachers in New York, the Same amount the balance $2400, I have given out of my last two years Salary, for the objects above specified. I now desire to transfer the whole of this property
