King Wm Court House Va
October 17th 1868

Dear Sir-

I have today applied for $136.00 for school house at King Wm C.H. I am sure I shall get the money of the freedmen. I know there is great need of a school & earnestly hope the apropriation may be approved. Can the rent of Cat Tail go on long enough to secure payment for two large stoves - I have sent on & bought them. They will soon come. I have got time on them. Miss Scott might become Carters Assign - I removed Miss Nattie Preston from the southern family in two hours after arrival. The dirt - Potatoe Peel - Babies - Cornbread - unmade beds &c were too much for me & by consequence for her - she is now happily boarding with Thorne. School commences monday there

Sincerely Yours
C P Goodyear

P.S. There were delays in getting material from Baltimore & I would not start school till all was ready for winter
