They will need a Stove, Desks, Benches, Table, Chair, Lights for windows &c. &c.

In regard to Books, slates &c. I think I can obtain them from personal friends in Philadelphia.

The Teacher who proposes to take charge of this interest, was formerly a refugee from this section, and until recently has been teaching School in West Virginia. His name is P.R. Sherrard.

The application for assistance is made by the people of that locality, through Mr Sherrard.

If any thing can be done to assist them, I desire that it may be communicated at once, as it is important that there should be no delay in getting the school in operation.

The nearest school for white children is at Christiansburg, where the price charge for tuition is equal to that at Richmond, which precludes the poorer classes, from availing themselves of its benefits, even in the immediate vicinity.

Hoping to receive favorable instructions, as I feel specially interested in the moral and intellectual improvement of this class of the people.
