  Dear sir, I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of the 6th inst. and to return my thanks for the timely and it proposes to extend to me. The school was organized in November 1867. You may remember my writing to Head Quarters from Philadelphia before my departure. I received an assurance from you of assistance from the Bureau. At the time of commencement there were but 16 or 17 pupils. The progress in point of numbers rapidly increased. In the month of March there were in the Day-school 58 scholars and in the Night School 41- the maximum numbers were attained in June, when there were 65 in the former, and forty three in the latter, respectively. Making an aggregate of one hundred and eight with an average attendance of 95. My rent was promptly paid by the Bureau, up to the 1st of July last at which time, the building was surrendered up to the
