My dear Mr. Manly,

Your letter was duly received yesterday morning. We decided that we had no funds for paying other than teachers and collecting Agents, but sent Mr Goodyear $50. towards building the school house at King Wm CH. He writes that he thinks the house will be ready by the middle of this month, and suggests our engaging Miss R Scott's sister as teacher. Do you know her? Is she a good teacher?

We have decided to retain one of the Alexandria teachers and not the other.

You have not mentioned how much you paid Miss Hancock from the Peabody Fund. I am going to write to her now and shall tell her that we will deduct the sum from her next payment & send the document to you to refund.

I enclose a check for $60. Please pay to Jas Bowser, Mrs. Alston & Miss Preston their $10. Each for Feby and $20 to Miss Scott, and refrain $10 for Mrs. Manly.

We hope to secure a special donation for Mrs. Murdock, in just a few days.
