Independance Va. March 31st 1869
Mr. Thomas. Dear sir,
I take the present time to write you a few lines to inform you that I am well at the present. My school is fell to four & three of them can't come any longer than the 10th of April, the people on Elkcreek said that they can furnish me from 26 to 13 ^schollars^ all the summer if I will come & teach for them they say that they don't like this teacher on Elkcreek that he is to wild & ratling & he don't keep good order [[crossed-out "not"]] some of the people who send their children to my school is willing for me togoduring the summer.
