Genl. Howard desires me to say to you, that after the 30th, all the Bureau work in Va. except the Hospital and Ed. Dept will be closed, and that he wishes you to remain for the present in charge of the Ed. Dept. He would prefer that you remove your office to Alexandria, or a more central location. He will allow for one Clerk, and has one here, whom he will assign if you have no preference for one of those you now have.
