Richmond, Va., May 19th 1869

Revd Thos. G. Murphy

Sir,
It is desirable that a separate report of each school should be made by the teacher in charge thereof, on the blanks furnished by this Bureau. This is rendered necessary for the convenience of this office, where all reports are now consolidated before being sent to Washington.
A report for April from Mrs. Neil has been received - showing one school & one teacher -
Your report for April shows one school at "Big Oak" - having 3 teachers and three school buildings owned by Freedmen.
Please explain this as soon as possible, as the report for April is now being got ready for Washington-
