Charlotte Ct. House
May 26 1869

R.M. Manly Esqr

Dear Sir
I received 2 duplicate vouchers for rent of school room for Freedmen for the Month of May 1869 located at Charlotte Ct. House. I suppose this must be a mistake as the school House for Freedman owned by me is upon my own land in Charlotte County five mile from the Ct House. I have told the Teachers and the Patrons of the school on my land that they might have as a contribution from me all the money allowed the government for the rent of the House. They have had a very flourishing school for the last 4 months and a good Teacher J W Cromwell (colored) from Phila I shall be glad for the school to get the benefit of the rent as I feel a deep interest in the Education of this class of our fellow Citizens.
