fully with your request.  they (the Freedmen) have provided a very good building for holding the school which is furnished with benches and desks enough to accommodate from forty to fifty pupils they have also a good stove, clock &c.

They are very anxious to have the school reopened and will contribute as much as they are able toward the support of a teacher, which of course, cannot be much.

It will be impossible to get accommodations among the white population, but I can obtain board and lodging in a very respectable colored family, which were free before the war and are the owners of the school building

Although there will be many disadvantages to contend with, still I go there with a determination
